Law = Torah

BEFORE WE JUMP INTO THE CURRENT VALIDITY OF THE BIBLICAL WORD “LAW”, YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE TOPIC MIGHT OPEN UP A BIT FASTER BY FIRST STUDYING THE WORD “External link opens in new tab or windowCOMMANDMENTS” HERE ON OUR WEBSITE.

On the Commandments Page you will find that there are about 10 passages of scripture within the pages of the New Testament which support keeping “The Commandments of God”. We made a list of them for you to investigate instead of the other passages which refer to “The Commandments of Yeshua (Jesus)” for those who think that God the Father is a different person than God the Son, or that they have a separate set of commandments.

THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD ARE A SMALLER PART OF THE LAW OF GOD:

This means that if there is a place in the New Testament commanding followers or disciples to obey the commandments of God, that is Just as good as telling them to obey the Law of God. Just as Chevrolets, Buicks, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, and Cadillacs are each smaller divisions of General Motors Company, there are many smaller parts which make up the Law of God. For instance the Oracles of God are only the things which Yahweh has said with his own mouth, and not necessarily the things revealed by angels, or given to mankind by dreams, visions, or prophets. Some of the Oracles of God are found within the Commandments of God, while the Commandments of God as a unit are a smaller part of the Law of God, which in turn is a smaller part of a much larger unit called the Word of God. “The word of God” is everything Yahweh has ever said with his own mouth, or instructed other beings to say or write, or inspired a human being to say or write.

THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD ARE NOT IMPOSSIBLE OR TOO DIFFICULT TO KEEP:

Before you decry the 613 Commandments found in the Tanach (i.e.-Old Testament) as being too many or too hard to keep, you should know that there are a whopping 1050 commandments to keep in the pages of the Brit Chadasha (i.e.-NT). You may think that since there are 613 Commandments, that there are far too many to ever be able to obey. This simply is not the case because not all of the 613 apply to everyone. For instance, the women have their own laws, while the men have a separate set, ... therefore no man has to worry about keeping any of the laws intended for women, and vice versa. Additionally, there are commandments for judges, rulers, and farmers which ordinary people don’t have to comply with if they don’t fall in such categories. Already we find that we are relieved from the responsibility of doing ALL of the Laws of Elohim, but the best relief is found in discovering that ... none of us have to worry about keeping the tedious laws required by the Aaronic and Levitical Priesthood which are supposed to be accomplished within the walls of the Temple of Elohim in Jerusalem in the administration of temple duties. This is because Yeshua (Jesus) is our eternal high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek in the Temple of Elohim located up in the heavens, and the temple of Elohim on Earth has remained destroyed by the Romans Army since AD70.

KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS OF ELOHIM (GOD) IS NOT TOO HARD TO DO:

Keeping the commandments for the most part gets much easier when we separate ourselves from western cultural commandments, traditions, and expectations which conflict or compete with the bible such as the Gregorian Calendar along with its holidays. Doing both sets of commandments or following both calendars can run a person ragged, but in the case of Biblical Holidays vs Pagan Holidays, things become much easier when we drop the Pagan Holidays so that we don't have to worry about keeping them both at the same time. Once this is done, biblical commandment keeping is no harder than keeping up with Western Church Holidays which are rooted in Paganism as presented to all of Christendom by the Catholic Church which started with the influence of Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire.

1st John 5:

3 For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

AT LEAST 15 PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD:

There were at least 15 people in the bible who were able to and actually did keep the commandments of God, or were blameless, or righteous before Yahweh. Let’s look at the parents of John the Baptist, known as a priest named Zachariah and his wife Elisabeth listed in the New Testament. Somehow, they were able to walk in all the commandments and ordinances of Yahweh in a blameless manner under the old covenant, well before the lamb of God and our Messiah Yeshua of Nazareth was ever born to save us all with his holy blood, and before spiritual power and help was given to us by the Holy Ghost being poured out on the Day of Pentecost in Acts Chapter 2. If they could do it way back then, then why can’t we do it after the fact that Yeshua was born and died for us to be holy, and poured out his spirit upon us to give us power over sin?

Luke 1:

5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zachariah, of

the course of Abiyah: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was

Elisabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before Elohim, walking in all the commandments

and ordinances of Yahweh blameless.

OTHER PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE WHO WERE RIGHTEOUS, BLAMELESS, OR SUCCESSFULLY KEPT THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LAW:

          Enoch 1:1                                                  Enoch

          Genesis 6:9, 7:1                                        Noah

          Job 1:1, 8, & 2:3                                        Job

          Genesis 14:18-20,

Psalms 110:4                                            Melchizedek (Righteousness is my King)

          Malachi 2: 5-6                                           Levi

          Luke 2:25                                                   Simeon

          John 1:47                                                   Nathaniel

          2nd Peter 2:7-9                                         Lot

          Hebrews 4:11                                            Able

Revelation 14:3-5                                     144,000 [Without fault (Blameless)]

          Mark 2:17,

          Matthew 9:12-13,

Luke 5:31-32                                              He did not come for the righteous so

Luke 11:28                                                  Blessed those who hear his word & do i

           Matthew 23:35                                           Righteous Blood

Matthew 25:37                                           The Righteous answer him

          John 8:46                                                     Yeshua was sinless

Back to THE LAW

LAW IS A MISUNDERSTOOD FRIEND:

The word “Law” in the bible is one of our most misunderstood friends. For most people it conjures up defensive reactions, feelings of anxiety, and images of a cop with a billy club ready to pounce upon us if we get the slightest bit out of line. Our western society has reinforced this one sided concept of law enforcement officers because of the many traffic tickets they hand out, and arrests they make.

TWO DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS OF LAW:

Although it may be hard to believe at this point, … many of the definitions for the same words are different in the Tanach (Old Testament) than they are in the Brit Chadasha (New Testament).  Some may be the same, but there are plenty which have differences which range from subtle, to drastic. Drastic is the word to describe the difference in the meaning of the word Law. The overall problem has to do with the fact that all or part of some definitions for some words have been lost in translation from Old Testament to New Testament. Most of the Bible Colleges and Seminaries in the USA have wrongfully taught ministerial students that the New Testament was originally written in Greek or that the oldest known copies are in Greek even though history and other destroys this non-credible teaching. For instance many early church fathers have written that Matthew first wrote his Gospel in Hebrew.

The proof that something is amiss is so simple that a third grade student in elementary school could see it. All you have to do is find the many passages in the Greek based New Testament which quote, refer to, or allude to passages in the Hebrew based Old Testament (Tanach) or source scriptures, and then compare them together to see if the definitions match between the testaments as you trace each word of each passage in each testament from beginning to end. The reason the definitions don’t always match is because the Greek language of the New Testament has contaminated the Hebrew Text of the Old Testament due to the differences of Greek culture and the way that Greek words are built. Hebrew word structure has stability that Greek does not because most Hebrew words have three root letters in the form of a parent root and two child roots. If the definition of a Hebrew word in a bible dictionary, concordance or lexicon strays too far from the meaning of the parent root letter in the Hebrew word, then the definition is false.  Even though a failure to compare Greek definitions with Hebrew definitions along with a lack of knowledge of Hebrew does have it’s risks,  most bible colleges in the USA continue to stress learning Biblical Greek with hardly an honorable mention of the need to learn Biblical Hebrew. This is what I call the blind leading the blind.

DEFINITION OF “LAW”:     OLD TESTAMENT ~VS~ NEW TESTAMENT

1st definition is from the N.T. -

           Strong’s Concordance:

           G3551     νόμος     nomos     nom'-os

From a primary word νέμω nemō (to parcel out, especially food or grazing to animals);                                law (through the idea of prescriptive usage), generally (regulation), specifically (of                                        Moses [including the volume]; also of the Gospel), or figuratively (a principle): - law.

THE NEW TESTAMENT GREEK DEFINITION OF “LAW” LISTED ABOVE IS VERY BLAND OR WATERED DOWN, FAILING TO ADEQUATELY EMPHASIZE THE INSTRUCTIONAL AND PREVANTATIVE ASPECTS OF THE WORD LAW.

2nd definition is from the O.T. -

           Strong's Concordance:

              H8451     תּרה    תּורה     tôrâh  tôrâh     to-raw', to-raw'

From H3384; a precept or statute, especially the Decalogue or Pentateuch: - law.

              Strong's:

              H3384     ירא    ירה     yârâh  yârâ'     yaw-raw', yaw-raw'

A primitive root; properly to flow as water (that is, to rain); transitively to lay throw

(especially an arrow, that is, to shoot); figuratively to point out (as if by aiming the

finger), to teach: -  (+) archer, cast, direct, inform, instruct, lay, shew, shoot, teach (-er, -

              ing), through.

THE STRONG’S CONCORDANCE O.T. DEFINiTION OF THE WORD LAW (H8451) IS ALMOST AS BLAND OR OVERSIMPLIFIED AS THE N.T. DEFINITION (G3551) UNTIL YOU DIG A LITTLE DEEPER INTO THE O.T. WORD THAT IT WAS BUILT OUT OF (I.E.- H3384). IMMEDIATLY THE GLARING CONTRAST APPEARS SHOWING THAT INSTEAD OF LAW BEING A BILLY-CLUB-AFTER-THE FACT-PUNISHMENT, THE WORD LAW REALLY MEANS TEACHING, INSTRUCTIONS, DIRECTIONS, AND INFORMATION WHICH CAN PREVENT PUNISHMENT BY DIRECTING US TO AVOID THE TRAPS OF SIN. THE DEFINITION LOCATED IN THE ANCIENT HEBREW LEXICON OF THE BIBLE ACTUALLY CUTS THROUGH THE CHASE AND GETS TO THE DEFINiTION OF LAW WITH LESS STEPS THAN STRONG’S CONCORDANCE DOES.

HERE IS A STORY I FIRST SAW ON BRAD SCOTT’S  “WILDBRANCH MINISTRY” WEBSITE SOME YEARS AGO WHICH EXPLAINS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DEFINITIONS OF LAW IN THE  N.T.  ~VS~  THE O.T. :

Story of a N.T. family gathering  ~vs~  an O.T. family gathering -

  •  “The Greek word "Law" in the N.T. is like being taken to the courthouse, to appear before a judge and jury, to hear your sentence and find out which prison you will be sent to for the crimes you have committed. This definition resembles punishment after a law has been broken.

  • The Hebrew word for "Law" in the O.T. is like being taken to your father's house, for a family gathering with your brothers and sisters, to hear your father teach you how to reach the heavenly city and gain eternal life. This definition resembles preventative measures or training to help you avoid breaking a law in the first place.”

TWO SETS OF THE LAW OF MOSES ARE WITHIN RABBINACLE JUDAISM, BEING:

1.     The Written Law of Moses

2.     The Oral Law of Moses

(They claim it was originally passed down by word of mouth, but later put into print in

the Mishna section of the Talmud.  N.T. writers sometimes referred to them as traditions,

traditions of the elders, or traditions of the fathers).

YESHUA OFTEN OPPOSED THE ORAL LAW (TRADITIONS/COMMANDMENTS OF MEN):

Matthew15:

1  Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2  Why do

thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when

they eat bread. 3  But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the

commandment of God by your tradition? 4  For God commanded, saying, Honour thy

father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5  But

ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou

mightest be profited by me; 6  And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free.

Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7  Ye

hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8  This people draweth nigh unto me

with their mouth, and honoureth me with their  lips; but their heart is far from me. 9  But

in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. [KJV]

ON THE OTHERHAND YESHUA FULLY BACKED THE WRITTEN LAW OF GOD:

Matthew 5:

17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy,

but to fulfil. 18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall

in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19  Whosoever therefore shall break one of

these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom

of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom

of heaven.

HEARE ARE TWO INSTANCES OF THE ORAL LAW BEING FOLLOWED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT BY YESHUA’S DISCIPLES:

Acts 1:

2  Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem

a sabbath day's journey.

Acts 10:

26  But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. 27  And as he talked

with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. 28  And he said unto them,

Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come

unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common

or unclean.

YOU CAN LOOK FOREVER IN THE TANACH (O.T.) AND NEVER FIND A COMMANDMENT LIMMITING THE DISTANCE OF TRAVELING ON THE SABBATH DAY, OR A LAW WHICH FORBIDS JEWS FROM APPROACHING OR KEEPING COMPANY WITH A GENTILE. THIS IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT WRITTEN LAW BUT ORAL LAW AND FROM TIME TO TIME WE SEE YESHUA’S DISCIPLES AND APOSTLES KEEPING SOME ASPECTS OF THE ORAL LAW.

REJECTING  THE  LAW  OF  ELOHIM CAN CAUSE SOME REAL PROBLEMS:

1)     Your prayers will be rejected as an abomination:

         Proverbs 28:

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

          [WOY]

2)      Yahweh will reject you, your children, and your priesthood:

         Hosea 4:

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected

knowledge,    I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou

hast forgotten the law (8451) of thy Elohim, I will also forget thy children. [WOY]

3)     You will be living in total darkness and have no light inside of you:

         Isaiah 8:

20  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because

there is no light in them.  [WOY]

4)      Without Elohim’s law, you might not have enough of his word to keep you alive:

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Yahweh. [WOY]

EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE WORD OF ELOHIM IS ETERNAL:

    • IT CANNOT PASS AWAY;
    • IT IS STILL IN EFFECT;
    • IT CANNOT BE THROWN AWAY;
    • IT CANNOT BE REPLACED.

1.       Yeshua is an eternal being known as the “Word of God” in The Gospel of John and in

The Book of   Revelations. Well the “Word of God” is a large category which contains

the “Law of God”, which in turn contains the “commandments of God”. It is just as

impossible for the law to pass away as it is for Yeshua's arm, leg or other body part

to pass away. If people were able to throw the law away, they would actually be

throwing a part of Yeshua away. Likewise, when they ignore the law, they are ignoring

          a part of Yeshua.

           John 1:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim.

2 The same was in the beginning with Elohim. 3 All things were made by him; and without

him was not any thing made that was made. ... 14 And the Word was made flesh, and

dwelt among us, and we beheld his majesty, the majesty as of the only begotten of the

Father, full of grace and truth.

           Revelations 19:

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word

           of Elohim.

THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD (ELOHIM) FIT INSIDE OF THE LAW OF GOD, AND THE LAW OF GOD FITS INSIDE OF THE WORD OF GOD, AND YESHUA IS THE WORD OF GOD. YOU CAN’T GET RID OF ONE WITHOUT GETTING RID OF THE OTHER.

2.     The "truth" of Yahweh endures forever to all generations:

          Psalms 100:

5 For Yahweh is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truthendureth to all

          generations.

          Psalms 117:

2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of Yahweh

          endureth for ever. Halleluyah.

IF THE LAW WAS EVER THE TRUTH AT SOME POINT IN THE PAST, IT IS STILL THE TRUTH TODAY BECAUSE HIS TRUTH ENDURES FOREVER TO ALL GENERATIONS.

3.       The "word" of Yahweh lives and abides forever:

           1st Peter 1:

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of Yahweh,

which liveth and abideth for ever.

JUST AS THE WORD OF YAHWEH LIVES AND ABIDES FOREVER, SO DOES HIS   LAW WHICH IS INSIDE OF HIS WORD.

THE WORD OF GOD IS STILL ALIVE RIGHT NOW:

Hebrews 4:

12  For the word of God is quick (i.e.-alive), and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

THIS MEANS THAT THE LAW WHICH RESIDES WITHIN HIS WORD IS ALSO STILL ALIVE.

OLD TESTAMENT LAW IS STILL NEEDED TO LIVE:

    Matthew 4:

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but

by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Yahweh.

AS A PART OF “ALL SCRIPTURE”, OLD TESTAMENT LAW IS STILL PROFITABLE:

2nd Timothy 3:

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee

wise unto salvation through faith which is in the Messiah Yahshua. 16 All scripture given by

inspiration of Yahweh, indeed is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for

instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of Elohim may be complete, thoroughly furnished

unto all good works.

  • Shaul (Paul) could not have been talking about the New Testament since it had not been written yet, what "holy scriptures" could he have been referring to? It had to have been the Tanach (Old Testament).

  • Notice that these Old Testament Scriptures are able to make a person wise unto salvation. Why would we want to throw away scriptures that could make us wise and save our souls?

  • The word "all" in verse 16 above surely includes the Old Testament which is described as:

  1. given by inspiration of Yahweh
  2. profitable for doctrine
  3. profitable for reproof
  4. profitable for correction
  5. profitable for instruction in righteousness
  6. able to make you completely equipped to do good works.

THE  OLD TESTAMENT  IS  THE  FOUNDATION  AND  JUDGE  OF  THE  NEW TESTAMENT:

           Acts 17:

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silah by night unto Berea:

who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more

noble than   those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness

of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. [WOY]

According to the passage printed above -

      • What “scriptures” were they referring to since the N.T. hadn't even been written yet?

      • You will be more noble than Thessalonicans if you first readily receive the word, and later verify the truth of the sermons by comparing them with the scriptures.

      • If the people in the N.T. compared the sermons of N.T. preachers with O.T scriptures to see if they were telling the truth, then how did we ever get it all turned around backwards so that modern Christians use N.T passages to see if O.T. passages are true?

WE MUST GET BACK TO CONSIDERING THE OLD TESTAMENT (TANACH) AS THE FOUNDATION OF THE NEW TESTAMENT (BRIT CHADASHA), AND THAT IT IS OUR PRIMARY FILTER TO STRAIN OUT FALSE DOCTRINES, ERRORS, HERESIES, AND MISTRANSLATIONS WHICH APPEAR IN VAROUS PLACES OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. BUT THE NEW TESTAMENT SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS A FILTER AGAINST THE OLD TESTAMENT WHICH IS THE SOURCE.

LAW DOES NOT CANCELL OUT OR REPLACE GRACE:

      Titus 2:

11 For the grace of Elohim that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching

us that, denying unrighteousness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously,

and reverently in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the esteemed

appearance of the great Elohim and our Saviour Yahshua the Messiah; 14 Who gave himself

for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity (Lawlessness), and purify unto himself a

peculiar people, zealous (eager) of good works.

HERE THE GRACE THAT SAVES IS A TEACHING GRACE WHICH TEACHES US HOW TO LIVE RIGHT AND AVOID BAD THINGS SO THAT WE AVOID TROUBLES NOW IN THIS PRESENT WORLD. IT GOES BEYOND THE TYPICAL UNDERSTANDING OF GRACE SEEN ONLY AS “UNMERITED FAVOR” USED AS A TEMPORARY FIX OF SLOPPY-AGAEPE, GREASY-GRACE USED AS A LICENSE TO SIN OR A GET-OUT-OF-JAIL-FREE CARD UNTIL WE CAN BE FREE FROM TEMPTATION AFTER WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN.

LAW AND GRACE ARE NOT OPPOSITES:

    • They have always worked together in harmony.

    • In the Tanach (Old Testament), the Law was there to instruct us how to act, but a safety net of grace and forgiveness for repenters was also there at Passover and Yom Kippurim to cover any sins we might have recently committed by failing to follow the instructions.

    • In the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) law and grace act the same

Way as they did in the Tanach.

GRACE IN THIS SO-CALLED "NEW COVENANT - AGE OF GRACE" IS NOT A NEW THING AS SUGGESTED IN THE FALSE DOCTRINE OF DISPENSATIONALISM:

    •  “Noah found Grace in the Eyes of THE LORD” way back in the Old Testament long before Yeshua died for our sins and confirmed the Renewed- Covenant (Genesis 6:8).

    • On Page 7 & 8 of his book “Torah: Law or Grace?”, Dr. Richard Booker,  states “In the Hebrew Scriptures, hen and hesed are translated into English by familiar words ‘grace,’ ‘lovingkindness’, and ‘mercy’ and  means  'favor'., Chesed or Hesed appears  in our English bibles  as 'grace' 38 times,  as 'lovingkindness'  26 times, and as 'mercy' 205 times for a total of 269 times. 'Chen' or 'Hen' appears a total of 66 times in the Hebrew Scriptures, but in the form of either 'Favor' or 'Grace'. Grace and mercy work together as God’s unmerited favor…”. So when the occurrences
of "Favor" in the forms of both Hen and Hesed are all added to together in the Tanach, they
total 339 occurrences in all. This stands in contrast to the 126 times in the Brit Chadasha, that
the word grace appears based upon the greek word "Charis" [Strongs # 5485] meaning "favor".

    • When we subtract the 339 occurances of favor in the Tanach under the hebrew words hen and hesed from the 126 occurences of the word favor in the Brit Chadasha under the word Charis, we find a difference of 209 times. Hence there are 209 more instances of Gracey Favor in the Tanach (O.T), than in the Brit Chadasha (N.T). So how can we be in a new dispensation of grace which has replaced the law as we have been mislead to believe by the dispensationalists?

IF A DEBATOR SAYS:   WE’RE NOT UNDER LAW, BUT UNDER GRACE!

They take this biblical quote out of context to wrongfully say that the law has been done away with.

1)    Ask the debater for the chapter and verse it is located at  (Romans 6:14)

2)     Most know that such a scripture exists, but don't know exactly where it is found.

          3)     Tell them "since you don't know where this verse is at, it probably means you have
not studied it out fully in light of it's context and studied out the definitions in a lexicon,
                  concordance or bible dictionary.

          4)     It is talking about no longer being under Sin's ability to force us to keep sinning
                  according to the following verses:

    • Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is impaled with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

    • Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

    • Romans 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto Elohim, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto Elohim.

    • Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

    • Romans 6:15 What then? shall we (choose to) sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? May that never be so. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

    • Romans 6:17 But Elohim be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of teaching which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

    • Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

    • Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of Elohim after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

THE BOOK OF ROMANS IS FOR ADVANCED USERS WHO ALREADY KNOW THE LAW. DON’T LET A NON-LAWKEEPING NOVICE TEACH YOU AGAINST THE LAW BECAUSE THE BOOK OF ROMANS IS

    TOO DEEP FOR THEM:

               Romans 7:

1 Know ye not, brethren, for I speak to them that know the law, how that the law hath

dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

WHICH OF PAUL’S 7 TYPES OF LAW ARE WE NOT UNDER?

    1.     The Law of God - Romans 3:31;  7:22-25;  8:7

Romans 3:31  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Romans 7:22  For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:  23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.  24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?  25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Romans 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

    2.     The Law of Sin

    3.     The Law of Sin and Death

Romans 8:1    There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

    4.     The Law of the Spirit of Life

Romans 8:1    There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

    5.     The Law of Faith

Romans 3:27  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the

    law of faith.

    6.     The Law of Righteousness

Romans 9:31  But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to

the law of righteousness. 32  Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were

    by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

    7.     The Law of Christ

1st Corinthians 9:20  And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to

them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the

law;  21  To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but

under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law

    "THE COUNSEL OF JERUSLEM":

    Acts 15:

1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised

after the manner of Moses (what is "the manner of moses)", ye cannot be saved. 2 When therefore Paul and

Barnabah had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and

certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

ARE THERE REALLY ONLY 4 LAWS OR COMMANDMENTS FOR  ALL GENTILE COVERTS TO KEEP EVER SINCE THE COUNSEL OF JERUSALEM TOOK PLACE IN ACTS CHAPTER 15?

    1)         No because the main theme of acts chapter 15 was not about how much they could reduce

the number of commandments of the law down to only a few in order to make things nicer

for gentiles. Instead it was about whether circumcision as described by Moses, and if this

type of circumcision was a prerequisite in order to be saved.

Salvation has always been and still is by grace and through faith. It was only after Abraham,

Moses, and the Hebrew slaves saw miracles and received promises from Yahweh, that they

were asked to be circumcised.  Salvation, covenants, and promises come before circumcision

but Yahweh eventually does get around to asking for it.

    2)        No because, eventhough Acts 2:19 & 20 does list a command of only 4 things to abstain

from, Apostle Paul later records 10 to 17 sins which will keep a person out of the kingdom

               of Elohim (God), as follows:

              A)       1st Corinthians 6:

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of Yahweh? Be not deceived:

neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves

with mankind,10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners,

shall inherit the kingdom of Yahweh.  [WOY]

              B)       Galations 5:

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,

uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations,

wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings,

and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past,

that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Yahweh.  [WOY]

    3)        No because, these were only the minimum 4 Commandments of the Law that they had

to  keep in order to be pue enough to be allowed to enter a synagogue to be taught the

rest of the Laws of Moses along with the Jews who regularly attended there. This is why

Acts 2:21 reads “21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being

read in the synagogues every sabbath day". The idea is that they would eventually hear

the rest of the laws and then be obeying them as well. Yes in the early days before the

destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem by the hostile Roman army, … the Jews and

followers of Yeshua both worshipped together in the Temple and in Synagogues, though

Yeshua’s followers also met in homes as well.

SOME NEW TESTAMENT PASSAGES PREACH AGAINST LAWLESSNESS OR SINNING:

    1st John 3:

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

THIS SCRIPTURE GIVES US OUR BEST DEFINITON OF SIN, WHICH IS LAWLESSNESS OR TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

THE WORD “LAWLESSNESS” IS OFTEN HIDDEN UNDER WORDS LIKE “INIQUITY” AND “WICKED” IN THE KJV BIBLE:

Definition of Iniquity and Verses where it’s use hides the word lawlessness:

               Roman 6:

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have

                yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity (G458) unto iniquity (G458);

even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

               Titus 2:

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity(G458). , and purify

unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

whom the Master shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the

brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with

all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness

in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be

saved. 11 And for this cause Elohim shall send them strong delusion, that they should

believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had

               pleasure in unrighteousness.

SOME TRANSLATIONS TAKE REPLACE “THAT WICKED” AND REPLACE IT WITH “THAT LAWLESS

               ONE” IN VERSE 8.

               2nd Thessalonians 3:

2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked (G459) men: for all men

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led

away with the error of the wicked (G113), fall from your own steadfastness.
